In the joint co-production No+Poetry, a mutual exchange took place via art mail with images in the form of collaborative collages. The result is an artist publication in offset print on natural paper in a numbered edition of 250 with 36 pages, signed by both artists, each available directly from one of the two artists. Here, Olbrich became a painter and Braumüller a copy-artist, freely adapted from Olbrich’s word art: From now on, this sentence is yours.
Jürgen O. Olbrich was born in Bielefeld in 1955 and lives in Kassel. Olbrich is a representative of visual poetry and an artist of copy art and mail art. Since the 1970s, Olbrich has been active in the worldwide communication platform of the Mail Art network. He also became an important partner for oppositional artists from the former Eastern Bloc.
Hans Braumüller was born in Santiago de Chile in 1966 and lives in Hamburg. Braumüller has been working with painting, mail art, visual poetry and art in networks since the 1980s. He defines himself as a border crosser between different art movements and cultures.
Olbrich and Braumüller’s involvement in the decentralised mail art networks signifies an expansion of the established art business and the economic usability of art in favour of oriented art forms of dialogue and communication.
The two have not yet met in person, but know each other from countless projects in which Olbrich has worked with Braumüller, Braumüller with Olbrich, or both have participated in projects by other artists.
Olbrich and Braumüller have each organised numerous solo and group exhibitions and their works are represented in various collections.
